Reading For Stress Relief

Reading is a great way to get some stress relief.  Try reading something different than what you would normally pick.  Make reading an adventure.  You can do anything from enhance your brain to take a trip to somewhere or nowhere at all.  I find just going to a bookstore like Borders or Barnes and Nobles, hanging out, walking around just looking around is very rejuvenating.  Grab a cup of java and a book, sit in a big comfy chair and fly away to someplace you have never been.  While you're there, pick up that journal for your To Do Before You Die List and get started.

Your business travel also provides the perfect chance to do some reading.  I know I spend alot of time sitting around airports and on planes.  There are so many options now for reading, from books, to a laptop, a pda, blackberry and even some phones can now get electronic books.  Another great option is the On the Go Books club.  Its similar to the by mail dvd programs, but they send you audio books.  See the link below for a free trial of this service.

If you aren't the novel reading type of person, try reading a little poetry.  They are shorter, but studies show that reading poetry is harder and usually stimulates the brain much more.  Read more about it...........  Picking up your favorite magazine about travel, a hobby, something you really enjoy doing or have always wanted to try works wonders also.  They are usually short but interesting reads.  They pack the motivation power though and get your mind thinking in a different direction and that spells stress relief.  Well, to be honest, you may get moving in a different direction, but at least your stress is redirected and your mind will still seem clearer when you move back to your work in progress.

Reading provides a great escape for the mind.  It is also a great way to have quality time with your children reading together.  Click here to read more about the health benefits of reading.
